I do not copy the Masters. I study them. This is an important distinction. For unless I can make it anew, unless I can find a way to interpret what has come before-- it becomes a mere academic exercise. My interest lies in the transmission of ideas. The connection of the past to future... This is not ancestor worship, it is the lineage of art.
