COLOR + DESIGN live from my studio - Stay at home COLOR BOOTCAMP

Marija has been trying for the longest time to persuade me to sail into the uncharted waters of online teaching. I have been successful in resisting that invitation. However, the silver lining of this Covid19 chapter is the fact that I now find myself learning new digital skills (with Marija’s guidance) in order to teach online courses for my students at CCA.
Marija and I are happy to continue offering my Color + Design workshop online and LIVE.  One of the participants called this three day intensive - the Color Bootcamp and I tend to agree. This is an intense immersion into the world of color mixing and principles of design.

During this three day intensive workshop you will immerse yourself into the vast world of:
COLOR
  • Prismatic Colors (primary, secondary and tertiary)
  • Muted Colors
  • Chromatic Grays (their hue and temperature)
  • Achromatic Grays
  • Mixing of the Chromatic and Muted colors
DESIGN
The seven visual elements are line, shape, value, color, mass, space, and texture. Of these, line, value, and color are of special importance because they are the ones which, used singly or in any combination, produce the other elements.

COURSE DYNAMICS
In order to mimic the dynamics and feel of the “in person” workshop, this course is done completely LIVE.
No recordings will be available. Please note that we start at 10am and finish at 5pm PST!
All the lectures and demos are done live, which allows for questions in real time.
Studio time is done offline with group check-ins every hour.  This provides a chance for you to work with no distractions and be off the screen while doing so. However, and this is very important, I stay available throughout the three days at all times to check back in if needed.
The benefits of working in this fashion, as other artist have pointed out:
  • Being in your own studio
  • Having the option to continue working beyond the workshop hours
  • Being able to focus on your own work and not be disturbed
  • No commute

IN SUMMATION
:

"The single most important means by which artists integrate the elements and parts of their works is by showing the many kinds of similarities and connections among them. If the teaching of drawing and painting were to be reduced to one word, perhaps the word that comes nearest to embracing much of what artists need to consider above all other factors in the forming of their images is relationships."

Here is what artist said about this Online Three Day Intensive
Picture
If you are interested in an immersive experience in color and design in the comfort of your own home/studio, this is what you want to do. I gained a much deeper understanding of color and a strategy on how to use it in my paintings. It was an intimate group of artists because the class size was small and Mark and Marija were very accessible throughout the three days so I felt that I had a lot of individual attention. I also learned a lot from the other artists as well. Doing it online I was able to work in the comfort of my own studio, with my own supplies and I felt rested each day because I didn't have to travel. I would love to do this workshop again and I highly recommend it to any artist.
I started the workshop with some reservation on the Zoom component but in the end, it worked out quite well. In fact, it was superb to have access to all my gear in my own studio, to work past the hours allotted for the workshop and dig a little deeper into color mixing while catching up on design elements. Perfect fit for me!
Marija and Mark. You are a great team. And so amiable and pleasant. I found myself smiling and laughing as I was learning! Thank you so much. I feel very special to have been able to do this with you!
Mark is an experienced teacher and an accomplished artist who, with the aid of his wife Marija, teaches a 3 day intensive online course on color. And I mean Intensive! Put everything else aside and get ready to take in a lot of information and produce a stockpile of colored paper. Mark teaches with knowledge , experience, humor and endless patience. I learned a huge amount about color even though I have been painting my whole life. Mark breaks down the very complex subject of color and makes it comprehensible through short lectures, demonstrations, discussion and most importantly, experiencing mixing different categories of color. There were only ten people in the class so there was plenty of time for individual questions and comments. Perhaps the best part about the class is that I have been inspired to continue this color exploration. I will be curious to see how the color relationships in my own paintings will change.
